Industry Perspective: The present future of IP Communications
Jeff, one of the true pioneers of the Internet telephony/VoIP industry, shares his view on the present future of markets, regulations and the competitive landscape in Europe and the rest of the world. Jeff will explain why putting voice on the Internet is not about replicating the phone network – like Vint Cerf said, “Internet Telephony” will be as redundant as the term “Horseless Carriage” in a few years.
Named by Business Week as one of their 2003 tech gurus, and universally respected for his expertise in VoIP, Jeff recently won a landmark petition known as the ‘pulver order’ at the FCC and is also working with the ITU, IETF and ETSI.

Keynote: Following the low-cost VoIP rainbow. Pot of gold or just another old wives tale?
With broadband slated to have attracted 500 million users by 2007 the environment for wholesale adoption of VoIP services is set fair. But like any other application over broadband VoIP needs a sustainable business model. The classic adage in marketing has always been that price is never a sustainable differentiator so can VoIP continue to survive as a lower cost alternative to POTS or is something else needed? This session will look at the service economics of VoIP and where its future positioning may lay.
