Eli Katz, Founder & CEO, XConnect
Eli obtained a first in Computer Science from Imperial College in 1992 and then established an IT Consultancy for the financial and internet sectors. In 1996 he joined Telco Global (a UK telecoms service provider) at its inception as Board Member. In 1999, as Managing Director, Telco grew to 1 Million Telephony, Mobile & Internet customers and he was a key player in the IPO of the US parent company. He left in 2003 to form T-Strategy, a company focusing on Broadband Telephony solutions, services and strategic alliances. In 2004, he co-founded UK's first IP Telephony industry body, ITSPA, and is also the founder of the Internet Phone Alliance.
Thilo Salmon, Managing Director, Indigo Networks
Thilo Salmon has gained a strong math and computer science background studying at Heinrich-Heine-University in Düsseldorf, Germany, and UC Davis, CA. Involved in the telecom industry since 1998, Mr. Salmon has been steering a number of web publications and IP-based telecom services through the difficult times of the new economy hype. Since 2003, he has been a driving force behind "sipgate" a free pan-european VoIP service. As such he is actively involved in various national and EU policy-making processes. Mr. Salmon's latest activity centers around delivering on the cost-saving promise through community-based, settlement-free PSTN-bypass over the public internet for voice service providers (e164.info).
Alain Van Gaever, Policy Development - DG Information Society & Media, European Commission
Alain Van Gaever works in the Policy Development Unit of DG Information Society and Media where he is responsible for Voice over IP. He has over 12 years experience in the Telecoms Sector. Before joining the European Commission, he worked as a Signal Troops officer in the Armed Forces and as a Voice over IP consultant in Cisco Systems. Alain has a master's degree in Engineering from the polytechnic division of the Military Academy, a masters degree in Telematics, an MBA from the University of Brussels, and is still an active CCIE.
Roger Wilson, Managing Director, ECTA
Roger Wilson is Managing Director of the European Competitive Telecommunications Association, the leading pan-European trade association serving the telecommunications industry. He is also non-executive Chairman of Adept Telecom Limited and of Cryosystems Limited. He has held a number of senior executive roles in the telecommunications industry since 1988, including Managing Director of Telewest’s Residential Division, Chief Executive of Bresnan Communications in Poland, and Chief Executive of Urband, a telecoms joint venture in London. He also previously served 2 terms as a Board member of the Cable Communications Association during the early years of the liberalisation of the UK telecommunications market.
